ANC Modular Secures U.S. Patent for Innovative Void Form System to Accelerate Construction Development
The patented technology enhances efficiency, safety, sustainability and scalability in Mid-rise and High-Rise Construction.
ANC, a Brantford, Ontario based construction firm specializing in modular building, is pleased to announce it has been issued a patent by the United States Patent Office for its Modular Void Form System, an innovative solution designed to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of construction projects. The patented Void Form System significantly improves the way modular structures are built by reducing project delays and expediting construction times while still being able to achieve the benefits of manufactured buildings, combined with all the benefits of a concrete superstructure.
“We’re incredibly proud to receive this patent, as it represents a major leap forward in our mission to make construction faster, more affordable, and efficient,” said Andrew Neill, President and CEO of ANC. “The Void Form System is a game-changer, offering a smarter way to build high density structures that not only speeds up the process but also makes it safer and easier to build.”
The Modular Void Form System is a construction method that uses fully finished, stackable modules as a concrete form, allowing buildings to be assembled quickly without traditional formwork or lengthy curing times, enabling new floors to be added immediately. The fully finished modules —complete with all mechanical, electrical systems, and all interior millwork and finishes —are built off-site in a certified facility while construction permits are still under review, meaning that as soon as permits are issued, the modules can be shipped, stacked, and secured in record time.
"As communities experience significant population growth, there has been increasing demand for high-rise residential and mixed-use developments to accommodate that growth,” said Kevin Stewart, Director of Projects and Pursuits at ANC. “ANC’s new building technology ensures that new homes are built faster, more efficiently and at a lower cost to meet the growing demand for housing.”
ANC has completed successful studies using this system for buildings up to 63 stories in height, in some of the highest seismic and hurricane regions in North America, like Los Angeles and Miami. With the growing concern of earthquakes, hurricanes and fires, this system offers a revolutionary method to rebuild quickly and efficiently after an unfortunate event, using an efficient, low labor, manufactured system, in an assembly line type process.
“Imagine saving 2 years on a project schedule”, Neill says. “Developers need to put a financial value to that amount of time and recognize how that speed to market can change the building industry, specifically in rental housing”.
