Modular Building Institute's Best in Show Announced
Charlottesville, VA - Every year the Modular Building Institute (MBI) sponsors its prestigious Awards of Distinction contest, presented at MBI's World of Modular, an annual convention and tradeshow. As the only industry contest of its kind, MBI's Awards of Distinction reviews commercial modular building entries submitted by MBI member companies. Entries are judged in the areas of architectural excellence, technical innovation, efficiency and length of project. This year's contest featured over 60 participating MBI member companies that competed in the following categories: Permanent Modular, Temporary Modular, Renovated Reuse, Marketing Pieces, Green Building Designs, and Student Green Building.
The highlight of each year's industry-wide contest is the Best in Show competition category, where awards are conferred by industry peers for what they collectively recognize as the best modular structures in the business. This year's Best in Show competition category was presented at 2009 World of Modular, the annual convention and tradeshow of the modular construction industry. The event was attended by 400+ industry members March 28-31 in Las Vegas, NV. During the show, attendees were asked to vote for the Best in Show award after reviewing all Awards of Distinction contest entries.
Best in Show honors were awarded for five categories:
Best of Show: Green Building Designs. Project FROG for Jim Russell Racing Drivers School
Best of Show: Permanent. NRB-Inc. for Millmont Elementary School
Best of Show: Temporary. Britco Structures for LUXE Sales Centre
Best of Show: Renovated Reuse. Nortex Modular Space for its major projects office
Best of Show: Marketing. Kidd & Co for Wilmot Modular Website
"The Best in Show category is the most competitive in our entire Awards of Distinction contest. Announcing the winners has become an integral part of every World of Modular," said Tom Hardiman, executive director of MBI. "This year's winners continue to demonstrate the high quality of accelerated construction, with the Best in Show winners achieving a special accolade. These entries were voted the best in our industry by business peers."
